Valentine cupcakes

This morning I awoke to a wet Sunday morning so I stayed home in the dry baking these little valentine cupcakes. Pretty pink sparkles scattered over lemon butter icing and in the middle of each cake is a gooey lemon surprise.

Valentine goodies

I've spent today catching up with the boring necessities known as cleaning but I did also have fun making little valentines goodies ready for tomorrow. Heart shaped butter cookies, covered in white Belgium chocolate....yum. The problem is the recipe I used made about fifty, yes fifty, cookies, what am I going to do with all those?

Happy Valentines to everyone, I hope you have a lovely, lovey day. XOXO

Freshly baked

A quiet Saturday started with a walk to the local farm shop followed by a spot of baking, several hours later, some fresh rolls. I'm still not feeling very well so i'm just going to relax this evening and enjoy the bread and hope for a good film on TV.

Our house part 2

I told you yesterday a little bit about where I live. At the bottom of my road is a rural centre with shops, a garden centre and a fantastic little bistro cafe which sells the best ice cream ever!

I love on a sunny day to walk down the lane to buy some bits and pieces from the farm shop and to stroll back with an ice cream in one hand and by bag of goodies in the other. I always have to have to have two scoops because I can never choose, one of pistachio and the other white chocolate....yum!

Unfortunately i've got to go to work this afternoon otherwise that's definately what i'd be doing.

What are you doing this weekend?

Fruit and nut

I got so carried away on the last post that I forgot to add this image.

I've talked before about my sweet tooth and this little beauty is a healthier(kind of) way to satisfy that sugar craving, it also helps to use up any old fruit, in this case blueberries.

Served with some caramalised cashew nuts and 0% Greek yoghurt they were yummmmeeeeee!

I'm off to work now, I hope you all have a good day.

It's here!

As I sit here by the window I have no doubt that autumn has finally arrived. The leaves have been slowly turning for some time but today they're floating off the trees to the floor with force.

The colours of autumn are just beautiful and I love wrapping up in a big jumper and walking through the leaves, kicking them as I go along before coming home and sitting in front of the burning fire, however, it does make me a little sad to think that that's it, summers over.

I can never decide which season is my favourite. I love spring when everything starts to come alive and first signs of the warm sun make me smile. Summer is just wonderful and hot(sometimes) and how could I not love it, yet autumn as I said is full of colour and beauty. Winter can be long but if we are blessed with some snow then it becomes magical and possibly the my favourite, just for that short time.

Do you have a favourite season?

Two brown bananas

I've just spent some time in the kitchen baking. I don't do it very often but every now and then I get the urge to create something yummy. This banana and date loaf is just the perfect way to use up any bananas that have gone far too soft and brown, I hate them when they're like that and they usually end up in the bin.

Sunday dessert

Well after my little chat about my sweet tooth I bring you more sugary goodness, this time from Amy Atlas. Amy creates stunningly beautiful dessert tables for events and parties.

This Moroccan style table above was designed for Sunday Suppers and photographed by Karen Mordechai, what a talent.

You have to check out Amy's website here and see more gorgeous tables and her pretty blog here.
I think i've just reached sugar overload, time for some savoury.

Sweety fix

I am a sweet addict. There I said it. It doesn't matter how healthy i'm feeling, eating all the right kinds of food I still have to have my sweety fix. A friend of mine actually calls me "Sue sweets" but I guess there's worse things to be called!

I wanted to write about something really exciting today but all I can think about are sweets, so this post is written as i'm tucking into a bowl of goodies. I've been at work all weekend so I think I deserve them.

What have you been doing this weekend? any other sweet lovers out there?

Dreaming of lost sunshine

It's dull and wet outside but one of the things I love about summer are all the delicious fruits. You can buy them all year round now but they taste so much better during the summer.

My favourite summer breakfast is a bowl of strawberries, raspberries and blueberries with a big helping of fat free Greek yoghurt, drizzled with honey...yummy and even though the sun isn't shining, I can dream.

Have great Sunday and I hope the sun is smiling wherever you are.
